Do you like Pfaff sewing machines? I'm looking to buy my mom a sewing machine. She's sewn all her life and I always remember her having a Brother and other similar machines growing up, but after she and my dad have moved so much, she no longer has one and does need one. She doesn't sew as much anymore, just once in a while, but I was looking at getting her the Pfaff Model # 1016. That's about what I can afford to buy her now. Any insights would be greatly appreciated as I am not that familiar with that brand.

Why are so many stores suddenly deciding not to carry Pfaff sewing machines anymore? My local shop, Meisner's is clearing out all Pfaff products. I looked on the web and several other shops are having a clearance on Pfaff too. However, the newest news I can find on Pfaff is that they were bought by Viking in 2000 after being bought by near-bankruptcy Singer in the 90s. So, what gives now? I really like the product, but don't want to buy another if they're going under. When I asked Meisner's they told me that the Pfaff isn't as user friendly, so that's why they are phasing them out. I find that incredibly hard to believe, because mine is so super easy to use! When I was doing some research online about the coverlocks, I found some stores that were clearing out their Pfaffs too, so it made me paranoid. Hopefully that's all it is and no news is good news!

How much do pfaff sewing machines cost?

pfaff sewing machines have different outlet plugs do they make an adapter for plugs here in America? my mother has a pfaff sewing machine made in germany, and she is trying to find a outlet plug or an adapter. The plug is different than american plugs (not to sound smug). Does anyone sell adapters or is there a way to change the plug for the machine and where do we find one at????

Sewing foot does not go down on my Pfaff 1469 sewing machine? When I lower the presser bar lifter, the sewing foot does not go down. One has to hold the sewing foot down for it to press firmly against the fabric. If you let go, the sewing foot rises above the fabric. This machine is over 30 years old! Any ideas/solutions would be appreciated!

I have a Pfaff 1473CD sewing machine. I've spent so much time trying to find out for how much one might sell. I usually do well with searches, but this one has me stumped.

How do I remove the gib from a PFAFF 230 sewing machine? The machine is frozen up, the wheel will not turn, the bobbin case is stuck but the screw that is suposed to remove the gib won't turn. For now, I've given the entire machine a good oiling which hasn't been done for years but if I try to turn that screw any more, I'm going to strip it. I removed the hook that it catches on so that I can hand turn the wheel and get the screw in a better position but that didn't help. There is another screw at the base of the entire bobbin case and I wonder if I can't remove that screw and remove the whole bobbin case - not just the gib as the instructions call for but I'm afraid I may get in too deep and not be able to get it back together.

We have problems with our Pfaff 1214 sewing machine? When we do the straight stitch, it stitches forwards but then, it goes backwards, and again forwards and backwards ! How do I reset my 1973 Pfaff Sewing Machine? My father was a wonderful upholster and was doing it since he was 15 years old, and died at the age of 65. He was the only one who ever touched it, to this day I regret never watching him or learning the tools of his trade. I was left the sewing machine, and I sewed on it. Was doing a blanket, turned out wonderful. Started a new project and it was knocked out of time. It won't hold a stitch. I asked my Mother how to reset it and she said she didn't have a clue, but she THOUGHT there was a screw that is underneath the sewing machine. How to disengage flywheel for pfaff 230 260 sewing machine? Hi, I bought a Pfaff 230 260 sewing machine at a garage sale recently. It did not come with a manual, bobbin case, or a bobbin. I have ordered the bobbin case and the bobbin. I do not know how to disengage the flywheel (I think that is what its called), so the needle won't go up and down when I am putting thread on the bobbin. I have 2 antique sewing machines I would like to get an estimate of value for.? One is a Pfaff 130 - which is in excellent condition. I have the instruction book, accessories, and even the receipt from when it was purchased in December of 1952. The other machine is called a 60 Deluxe Precision. I know they exist but can't seem to find one. I saw someone with one at a quilting retreat and didn't get the chan ce to ask where she got it. Anyone know anything about setting up a new Pfaff 2170? My wife just got a Creative 2170 Pfaff Sewing/Embroidery machine. We think the dealer set the 120V/220V-240V switch to the 120V setting used here in the US, but how can we tell? Yeah, I see the picture in the manual, but it doesn't look any different than the switch. The manual says it's set at the factory for 220V, and the switch matches the photo. I can't seem to move the switch because of the clear plastic blocker. Okay, I finally found the single piece of paper in the box that explains my dilema...there is a block in the way of the switch movement that is to be removed. I wasn't willing to just pull on it before I had confirmation I wasn't breaking somthing. After the block was removed, I was able to switch it from 220V to 120V. (It wasn't in the correct position originally.) Thanks for your time.

Tesco Sewing Machine; model name is Tesco Sew 1? Does anyone have this Tesco brand sewing machine, called the Tesco Sew 1? It is being sold in Europe for approx. $150 US dollars. It is the cheapest machine I have seen since I've come to Europe (we live in Poland and come from the States); most here go for $450 or more US dollars. It has a variety of straight, zig zag and stretch stitches, appears to be mostly made of metal and has the features of a much more expensive machine. It comes in the Tesco brand black, gray and purple box they use here and has a purple label or prinitng on the machine itself. I am considering it, seeing that my Tesco and the local Carrefour and Lidl either have cheap looking, poorly made machines, or much more expensive ones that have fewer features than the Sew 1. The local Media Markt store here has a Pfaff Hobby 1142 for $650 US, which costs $325 in the States and 200 GBP in the UK, so choice here appears to be very limited. Have U used the Sew 1? Is it a decent machine? Would U recommend it?

Can you recommend a large-throat (not long-arm) sewing machine for a quilter? I'm interested in a sewing machine that has a larger throat than my 25-year-old basic Singer to make machine quilting easier, but a long-arm machine is totally out of my price range.
