sewing accessories question? Ok.... so I have figure out the basics for the machine i have as far as the tension and how to thread the machine. I have also turned it on and used it on some sample fabric. Now I want to move on. I went to walmart and was looking at the needles and thread and all the other stuff that is for sewing. I am a beginner and so I dont know the difference between the needles and the thread. Also I would like to learn about what needles to use with what fabrics and which stitches is best to use on lets say silk or denim or cotton or does it matter? Sewing a laptop sleeve/accessories?? Since I can't find a sleep for my laptop (outside of $100plus custom jobs) and I'm a good sewer, I've decided to make my own! I might pop over to Joann's to see if there are any bag patterns, but otherwise thinking of prequilted material and lining it with flannel (soft and shouldn't scratch). Ideas/hint? What sewing machine should I get? I would like one that will be durable, not be overly basic, has a fair amount of accessories/extras and also not one made for extreme experts. I have been wanting to get a decent sewing machine for a while now, and my birthday is coming up so I am doing some research so I can know what is best for me to ask for. how do i remove rust from small metal accessories attached to my swimsuit? i recently bought this swimsuit with small ornaments sewn on a round leather base. i went swimming a few times and when the suit dried there was rust on several of the small metal discs. this is a tad complicated because there are beads sewn on top of the tiny metal discs (they are around 1 cm in diameter). this is my absolute favorite suit so please help! thank you!

So I am designing my bed comforter and bed accessories....? And I was wondering if there was anywhere i could go to give my designs and then i could pick out the fabric and materials, etc. and they'd sew it for me, since no one in my family can really sew...has anyone ever heard of a place like this cause one of my friends said they did it once but I didn't really believe her so I guess its worth a shot ;D thanks guys! :)

what are some creative business ideas for stay at home moms? I am very creative and am right now stuck in an unfulfilling yet cushy government job. I have two kids and desperately want to be home with them. I am very crafty, I sew clothing for my self, kids and friends. I sewed all of my own maternity wear because I refused to wear what was being offered. I also sew drapery, bedding and baby accessories. I also do some paintings for my childrens rooms that I've gotten some interest in. My name gets around town and I get work here and there but I fear giving up my cushy job since I'm not sure exactly what direction to go in. I need ideas for what to do with my talents or if it is even worth it.

HELP! Which sewing machine should I buy for making stretchy and summer clothes? Its been ten years since I've done any sewing, and machines have come a long way since then... I have looked at reviews and many sites. I've also spoken with my mom who is a longtime seamstress. But she has not sewn much spandex and lightweight fabric. She says it tends to bunch up and is hard to work, even with zig zag. She has a surger, so I can borrow hers till I get my own. There are computerized, electrical, and mechanical sewing machines. I thought a computerized one would be the easiest since it already has stitches and I guess adjusts itself to a point. However there are so many mixed reviews, I don't know. I wanted to stick with Singer or Brother. Or a company that is easy to deal with for repairs, parts, accessories, etc. I will be sewing scrunchies, summer clothes/ lightweight and stretchy fabrics, and other lightweight projects. However, it would be nice to have the option to sew heavier fabrics as well. budget of 4 or 500. Thanks!!!!
