  1. go to: kmart.com i typed in sewing machine in the search bar and found a brother w/ 70 built-in designs for $499.99 and they have layaway! i don't think they charge interest on that either, but you can check out the details. hope this helped!
  2. Almost any real sewing machine store local to you. But not for themost part, most big box places like Walmart, Costco, and such. At a real sewing machine store, they probably all would be willing to sell you a machine on layaway payments. In that case you do not get the machine to sew on at home though, until you have paid for all of it. Also they probably all have financing from an outside source, that they could hook you up with, if you go through a outside finance company like that, then you do get to take the machine home, even if you have not paid for it all yet. sometimes you do not even have to make any payments for many months, or if choose to pay off the machine early there is even no interest accrued at all. The agreement and your debt, and your payments is then owed to the outside finance company instead, not even the store you buy your machine from. Check it out, just look in the telephone book and call all the sewing machine stores within driving distance to you, and ask them about those two things.
  3. You don't want to purchase a machine through Kmart or Walmart. They don't service what they sell. You want to look for a local sewing machine dealer. They will specialize in a certain brand of their choice. Most will have a finance company that they use. Look specifically at hoop size for the embroidery, most begin at 4x4. This will soon be too little for you. You want to be able to sit down and sew on the machine of your choice prior to purchasing. Take your time and look around. Research what it is that you want in a machine, Keeping in mind that their is alot of expense in machine embroidery. There is special thread to purchase, regular sewing thread doesn't work, special bobbin thread to purchase, and everything needs a stabilizer. A specific stabilizer for different fabrics. Learn about this prior to purchase, if funds are short, you might have to save a while to be able to enjoy your machine. At least know what your getting yourself into.
