2. I was researching to buy a affordable and good working sewing machine. I have learned that Singer and Kenmore are good brands.

Go for a Singer.... this company has been around since the 1800's and if you need to repair it for some reason or another, since it is a well know brand , everyone will be able to fix it and will be able to find parts for it. If you cant get a Singer , Kennmore is also good, it was originally made by the Sears Co, which has been in business since the 1700's.....A friend's mother has a Kenmore that she has had for over 40 yrs and that thing still runs smoothly, like it was just bought.... So it holds up as well...but I dont know how easy it would be to repair and find parts if it needed to be fixed
