singer sewing machine help please!?

i bought a singer 5107 at a garage sale. ive been trying to fix it up, cause the lady said it still worked. ive threaded it right. i pulled up the tread from the bobbin case, but when i press the foot thing [sic] the needle doesnt move, i pulled the presser foot down, but it will just go down and stay there. the hand wheel spins really fast, and i pulled the bobin winder to the left. please help i want to sew!!

1. If the needle isn't moving and the wheel is spinning exceptionally fast, then it sounds like the bobbin winder is on. Adjust the control (normally the inner of the hand wheel) and then it will work.
2. Toripop is quite right, though in a roundabout sort of way. If you hold the handwheel in one hand and the round silver knob found on the inside dish of the handwheel in the other and say "Oh Wah Taygoo Siam" while you turn the silver knob away from you until it is tight, you will find your problem has most likely resolved itself. Sorry, it's late.
