Do all sewing machines need pedals?
I used to sew simple things in a homeliving class four years ago and the sewing machines had pedals. I have been looking for a sewing machine to buy but I don't see anything about pedals.

- I would imagine that the general assumption is that they come with the pedals automatically. I've never paid attention to that! Sometimes on old models they come with a lever that you press with your knee.
- Yes it's an automatic "given" that they include a pedal. They will not run without them. It's like buying a car. The gas pedal is included. The newer machines usually have a similar pedal. It's the older ones (2nd hand) that may not come with a pedal and it may actually be impossible to find a pedal for some of them. Good Luck in your search.
- Brother makes at least some machines that have push buttons for slow, medium and fast in additin to foot pedals. These are ideal for someone in a wheelchair. Foot pedals also are included; they are a basic part of the machine and therefore may not be listed in the features.
